helping Meem

About this Go Fund Me:

Meem suffered a stroke  a number of years back and now spends his waking hours sitting in his wheel chair looking out his front door. He used to be a vibrant young man playing guitar and involved at community functions; now, he is trapped in his home.

It bothers us to see a man who used to be so active just sit and waste away without being involved with his community because he can't get out of his home in his wheel chair. It would be a joy to us to see him with the freedom to leave his home and get out and about.

His home is in need of electrical and structural repair, in addition to improved drainage to remove standing water around the little house, and a wheelchair ramp. We have volunteers willing to put in the time but we need help gathering the funds for materials.

Once this project is completed Meem will be able to come out more readily, to go to his doctors and participate in community events. We would be very grateful for the help we can get.

Meem lives in Sarawak, Malaysia.

beard b gone- the trimmings

Amazingily, we raised $226 and change for the Resident Council at Golden Ears Retirement Village with this little adventure! Pauline and Margret were brilliant whipping up interest and ticket sales -hats off to you, ladies! And thanks to everyone at the Resident Council - your enthusiasm and playfulness made this the highlight of my year!

Thank you to everyone for buying tickets and getting into the spirit - let's see what madness we get up to next year!

Trim the Troll!

The irrepressible Margret gives Storm a taste of things to come...
Storm's 'goat' is the prize in the Trim the Troll raffle, a fund raiser for resident's recreation activities at Golden Ears Retirement Village in Maple Ridge. The draw and the trimming will be held at the Christmas party sometime in December. Ticket purchase entitles you to e-mailed photos of the event! Want to support a delightful group of old folk but can't come to the party? Of course you do. If the raffle winner isn't present, we'll draw straws from a group of armed and ready seniors to see who will wield the shears!
Tickets: 1 ticket, 1 buck. 3 tickets, 5 bucks.
(not a typo... it is a fund raiser!)
