Update: Meem's house repairs
Go Fund Me Update October 25, 2017:
Work on improving drainage for mosquito control is progressing well.
Meem is a stroke survivor who is forced to spend his waking hours in his wheel chair, watching the world through his front door. He used to be a vibrant young man playing guitar and involved at community functions; now, he is trapped in his home.
His home is badly in need of repair: There is no indoor toilet. The electrical wiring and structural supports are unsafe and need to be upgraded. There is poor drainage, allowing water to pool and mosquitos to flourish. Lastly, the house requires a wheelchair ramp. We have volunteers willing to put in the time and labour, but we need help gathering the funds for materials.

turkey vultures photographed in the Greater Vancouver Regional District

Classification of 'new world' vultures, including these turkey vultures, has vexed taxonomists for decades. Current thinking is that they belong in the order Accipitriformes along with hawks and eagles as diurnal birds of prey.
